Make yourself at library

Choose where you want your workspace to live.

1. On desktop, choose Local to work with a folder on your computer. Select your workspace folder and allow the browser to access it.
2. Choose Cloud and sign in with Google to access your saved content from different devices.
3. For a new Cloud account, complete the protection setup before adding your first files.

Local and Cloud are separate workspaces. Switching between them does not automatically transfer your files.

Keep images, text, videos and links together, with a library for each kind of content.

1. Open Image, Text, Video or URL and choose a folder in Library.
2. Use Upload for your files, Create text for a document, or Create URL for a link. You can also drag supported files onto the page.
3. To paste a copied image or link, right-click the page and choose Paste. Your new content appears in the selected folder.

On mobile, use the upload or create control for the current page.

Use folders to organize your sources and choose a view that suits the content.

1. Create a folder from the Library panel.
2. Click a folder name to select it. Use the arrow beside it to expand or collapse its contents.
3. Right-click an empty area of the page to find View. Image, Video and URL also offer Size options.

Give your ideas a little more room. Resize the working area whenever you need more space.

1. On desktop, open Board and turn on Resize board.
2. Drag the board boundary to extend the working area.
3. Turn Resize board off when you are finished, then continue arranging your cards.

Card placement and resizing are paused while Resize board is active.

Your library holds the sources. Your board lets you arrange them visually.

1. Open Library on the board and drag content into the scene.
2. Select a card to move it, or drag its edges and corners to resize it.
3. Use the zoom controls to explore the scene. Turn on alignment guides and choose the snap settings when you want more precise placement.

Right-click a card to see the actions available for that selection.

Use separate scenes for different projects, ideas or arrangements.

1. Open Outliner and use the new-scene control to create a scene.
2. Click a scene name to switch to it.
3. Use the arrow beside a scene to expand or collapse its outline.

Plans turns a project into a tree of connected tasks, with progress that rolls up to the main project.

1. Open Plans from the workspace menu on desktop. Open Outliner to create a new plan or switch between existing plans.
2. Each plan has one main Tree card. New plans are named Plan-1, Plan-2 and so on; rename the main card to give the project its own name.
3. Use the + on a task, its right-click Add menu, or Card details to add work. The levels are Tree, Trunk, Branch, Leaf and Seed. A Seed cannot have further subtasks.
4. Select a card to inspect it on the right. Clicking empty space clears the selection while the last inspected card stays in Card details. Close the panel with × and reopen it with the edge handle.

Plans is a desktop workspace page, like Board. Local and Cloud plans belong to their own workspace; switching modes does not transfer them.

Choose the position of a new connected card yourself, without pushing other cards out of the way.

1. Choose Add subtask on a card. A preview follows the pointer, with its heading centered under the pointer. Place it on the board to create and save the card; overlapping another card is allowed.
2. Press Esc or right-click to cancel the preview. An interrupted placement does not create a saved card. For lists, notes and references, finish the editor or picker first, then place the preview.
3. Right-click empty board space to add an independent task, list, note or reference. These remain outside the main project until connected.
4. Drag an independent card’s loose connection point onto a suitable parent card. The point follows the pointer around its card only during this gesture. Invalid targets do not change the connection.

A Count belongs to a task and moves with it. Independent work does not contribute to the main project’s progress until connected. Notes and references never add work weight.

Use the same naming and editing controls throughout your plan.

1. Double-click a visible card title to edit it directly on the card. You can also select one card and press F2, use Rename in its right-click menu, or edit Card name in the right panel.
2. Press Enter or click outside the title to save; Esc cancels. An empty name keeps the previous title. Notes have no visible title on the board: F2 focuses their name in Card details, and double-clicking the note body edits its text.
3. Right-click a card and choose Edit. Lists and notes open their content editor; other cards open Card details. Inspector changes update the board as you edit.
4. Choose Color in the card menu to color the branch. Descendants inherit that color until they have a color of their own; changing an ancestor preserves those custom colors.
5. Use the icon picker on a work card to change its symbol. Layout lock protects its position, while its name, quantities and progress remain editable.

Progress answers “how much is done?” Weight answers “how much of the parent does this work represent?”

1. New work starts at 0%. If a task has no subtask, Count or List supplying progress, drag its thin progress bar to set completion manually.
2. Once progress comes from connected work, the parent bar becomes automatic. Its percentage is the weighted sum of its children’s progress.
3. For example, two children weighted at 50% each produce 50% parent progress when one is complete and the other has not started. A child weighted at 20% contributes 20 percentage points when complete.
4. Notes and references provide context and do not affect completion. Adding only a note or reference still leaves a task’s manual progress bar available.

Total work counts end tasks, required Count quantities and individual List items. It is separate from manually chosen percentage weights.

Turn on Show weights to view and adjust each card’s share of its parent.

1. Eligible siblings start with equal shares. Drag a weight bar to change one share; the remaining unlocked siblings redistribute the available percentage.
2. Click the open lock beside a percentage to keep that share fixed. For example, locking a card at 50% leaves the other siblings sharing the remaining 50%. Click again to unlock.
3. The main project is 100%. A nested card shows its share within its own parent, so percentages on different branches do not all add up to 100%.
4. If fixed shares leave unallocated weight, the warning and Card details explain the gap. Unlock or adjust shares to distribute it. The percentage lock is separate from the card’s layout lock.

Select the main Tree card and choose Auto-calculate weights above Add subtask.

1. The calculation uses the work contained in each branch: an end task counts as one unit, Count uses the required quantity, and each List item counts as its required quantity or one unit if no quantity is set. Container cards do not add another unit.
2. A branch with 20 units receives twice the relative weight of a branch with 10 units when neither is locked. Fixed percentages stay fixed, and unlocked work shares the remainder.
3. Only work connected to the main project is recalculated. Notes, references and independent trees do not affect the calculation.
4. This is a one-time calculation. You can keep adjusting weights manually afterward, run it again when needed, or undo it.

Count records how many units of the same task are needed and how many are complete.

1. Choose Add count on a work card. Each work card can have one Count, alongside its subtasks and List.
2. In Card details, enter Required quantity and Completed. Use the − and + buttons on the small Count card to change completion by one.
3. For 10 palm trees, 3 completed out of 10 gives the Count 30% progress. The completed quantity stays between zero and the required quantity.
4. The Count is attached just below its owner and moves with it. Changing its quantity does not silently change manual percentage weights; Auto-calculate weights can use the new quantity when you request it.

Use a List for several distinct work items, each with its own progress.

1. Choose Add list on a work card, or add an independent list from the empty-board menu. Enter items in the popup; use + or Enter to add another input. Empty rows are not added as tasks.
2. Optionally enter a required quantity in the small box to the left of an item. Counted items show completed / required and use a strip that changes in whole-number steps on the board and in Card details. For example, 3/10 contributes 30% for that item. Leave the box empty to use a percentage strip.
3. Drag the heading or any row to move the list. Board rows only display progress, including when selected, so moving them does not change values. Long text wraps and rows grow to fit it.
4. Select the list and use its item strips in the Card details panel to adjust percentages or completed quantities. Arrow keys change it by one; Home and End go to its limits. Completed items become subdued. The List’s progress is the average of its items.
5. Right-click the list and choose Edit to change its items. Rename its heading by double-clicking it or using Card details. A list can move independently of its parent.

Show weights switches the card controls to weights; turn it off to adjust item progress. Items keep equal shares inside the List. Auto-calculate weights uses required quantities for counted items and one work unit for other items.

Attach supporting information without changing the project’s work or progress.

1. Add note from a card or the empty-board menu. The board shows only the note text. Use Card details for its outline name and content, or double-click its text to open the editor.
2. Shorten or extend a note vertically with the standard bottom-right handle. The height ranges from 96 to 220 board pixels; its width stays fixed. Scroll over long text to read it without a visible scrollbar.
3. Choose Add reference and pick an existing Board reference from the same workspace. A circular reference icon appears with its name below it.
4. Double-click the circular icon to open that reference in Picture-in-Picture. Double-clicking its name renames the plan card. Availability depends on the source reference and browser support.

Removing a reference card from Plans does not delete the source reference from Board.

Shape the connections while keeping the task hierarchy clear.

1. Drag an attached endpoint around its card to choose where the wire meets the edge. Its chosen position stays attached to that card as it moves.
2. Hover over a wire to see a knot preview. Press to add a knot and drag immediately to position it. Select several knots to move them together; snap also applies.
3. Alt-click a knot or an attached endpoint to toggle the straight connection treatment. Right-click a knot and choose Delete, or double-click the knot, to remove it.
4. Double-click either endpoint of an eligible connection to disconnect the card. The wire retracts and the card becomes independent. Count remains attached to its owner.
5. Wires follow the hierarchy colors, with a soft transition between different card colors. Light colors remain readable against the board.

Plans shares Board navigation and snap controls, with its own project history.

1. Click a card or drag a selection rectangle on empty space. Only Ctrl-click adds or removes a card from the selection, including in the Outliner. Hold Ctrl to add a selection rectangle to the current selection. Hierarchy selection includes descendants when you select a parent.
2. Move selected cards together. Count follows its owner, and layout-locked cards stay put. Hold V for element snapping or G for grid snapping; Shift constrains movement to an axis.
3. Paste places an independent copy at the pointer, keeping the connections within the copied branch. Duplicate keeps the original parent. The main Tree cannot be duplicated as a second project root. Plans copying includes descendants and remains within the current workspace.
4. Undo and Redo are in the left panel. The plan saves automatically; wait for Saved before closing. Download plan exports a JSON backup of the plan structure, not the referenced media files.
5. If saving reports a conflict or error, follow the displayed recovery options. Keep a downloaded backup before replacing work. Undo history is for the current editing session.

Use these on the board with the relevant selection. On Mac, use ⌘ in place of Ctrl.

Typing fields and popups own their keyboard input. Click back on the board to use board commands. During a move or placement, Undo first cancels that unfinished gesture. Ctrl+G grouping belongs to Board, not Plans.

Keep a collection close by while you work.

1. Select the cards you want to use on your board.
2. Right-click and choose Create Reference. You can also create a reference from a group.
3. Open the reference from its card. Move the window where you want it, or collapse it to a small panel.

Floating window options depend on your desktop browser. The browser controls where a Picture-in-Picture window opens.

A frame keeps related cards together without merging their files.

1. Select cards, then press Ctrl+G (⌘+G on Mac) or right-click and choose Group in frame.
2. Edit the group to change its title, background, border and opacity.
3. Use the group note to keep a short explanation beside your collection.

On the board, these actions serve different purposes.

1. Duplicate creates another board card using the same source. Use it when you want the same content in more than one place.
2. Copy and Paste create an independent file when pasting board content. Use this when the new copy should have its own source.
3. In the library, use Duplicate to create another entry in the current folder, or Copy to… to choose a destination folder.

Choose whether you want to change a location, remove a card, or delete the source itself.

1. Move to… transfers content to the folder or scene you choose. Copy to… keeps the original and creates a copy at the destination.
2. On Board, Delete opens a confirmation. Choose Remove from Board to remove only the selected card from the scene.
3. In the same confirmation, Delete from Library also removes the underlying source. Deleting a file in Library removes the source, so check the selection before confirming.

Watch the save status to check whether your latest changes have been saved.

1. Use Save when you want to request a save, and let any pending save finish before leaving.
2. For Local workspaces, keep access to the selected folder available. Keep your own backup of that folder.
3. For Cloud workspaces, check storage usage in the account area. A failed upload or save needs attention; refreshing is not a substitute for a completed save.

New Cloud accounts choose a protection mode during setup. The choice is permanent.

1. Standard Protection uses the normal account sign-in flow.
2. High Protection adds client-side encryption and a recovery key for unlocking your workspace.
3. Save your recovery key somewhere you can access independently of this workspace. Galescope cannot recover High Protection content without the key.

Sign in to the same Cloud account. With High Protection, a new browser also needs your recovery key.

1. Find the recovery key you saved during setup.
2. Paste the key into Unlock your workspace and confirm.
3. The browser remembers this account’s key after unlocking, including across sign-out. Another browser or cleared site data requires the key again.

Never send your recovery key to support or include it in a screenshot.

Select your cards first. Shortcuts apply to the active workspace, outside text-editing fields.

Select ungrouped cards on your board and create a frame around them in one step.

This shortcut applies to board cards, outside text fields and dialogs. Finish resizing the board or moving cards before grouping them.

Snapping stays active while you hold the key and stops when you release it. These shortcuts work outside text fields, menus and dialogs. Use G on its own for grid snapping; Ctrl / ⌘ + G creates a group.

Turn on Crop image cards to the left of Snap, or hold Alt, then drag an image card’s edge or corner to crop its frame freely on the board.

Release Alt or turn the tool off to resize proportionally. Inside a cropped image card, hold Alt and drag to reposition the visible area without moving the card or revealing empty space. The original file, editor preview and other cards stay unchanged. Expand the frame again to reveal the hidden area, up to the full image at its current scale.

The browser may need permission to read the clipboard, and the copied content must be supported.

1. Copy the content again and try the Paste action on the destination page.
2. If the browser asks, allow clipboard access for Galescope.
3. If the source copied only a filename or a link, upload the actual file instead.

Check the operation’s message before trying again.

1. For Cloud, check your connection and available storage.
2. For Local, make sure the workspace folder is still accessible to the browser.
3. If the problem continues, contact info@galescope.com with the action you tried, your browser and the error message.

Avoid sending private files, passwords or recovery keys when reporting a problem.
